Almost every city in this world has a landmark as the icon of their city. Jakarta with Monumen Nasional (Monas), Paris with the Eiffel Tower, and New York with the Liberty Statue. In Kyoto, they also has a unique landmark of their city, the name is Kyoto Tower.

On September 2016, me and my family got a chance to visit this city. After we had a dinner with a bowl of Ramen, we went to this building. Kyoto Tower is located just across Kyoto Station, so that's mean this building is located in the heart of this city. The first time I saw this landmark, it was illuminated with some lights, then I speak to my self "This building is amazing".

After I read the information about this building in the tourist brochure, I found out that Kyoto Tower was completed in 1964, the same year as the opening of the Shinkansen (high speed train in Japan) and the Tokyo Olympics. The height of this building is 131 meters above ground. That was almost as tall as Monas in Jakarta. There is a viewing platform located 100 meters above ground with 360 degree view of Kyoto city.

At that time, I didn't go to the viewing platform because it was 8.30 pm, and the building is closed at 8.40 pm. But another reason why I didn't go to that viewing platform is because it was quite pricey. The admission is 770 yen/person at that time or around Rp100.000/person.
